"Poignant, transporting, and gorgeous." ~ Morten Lauridsen
The Emerald Ensemble is a professional chamber choir featuring the finest voices in the Seattle area conducted by Dr. Gary D. Cannon. We sing music of all periods, with emphasis on classical choral repertoire. Beyond traditional concerts, we also aim to bring music directly to locations where the arts rarely extend, such as schools, prisons, hospice care facilities, or homeless shelters. Our mission is to help all people through great choral music presented with passion and skill.

The Emerald Ensemble presents two great works by masters of English choral music. From the Renaissance comes William Byrd's Mass for five voices, a rarely performed gem. Herbert Howells's unaccompanied Requiem, written after the death of the composer's son, is a soothing staple of twentieth-century choral repertoire.
The concert is rounded out by two works by local composers, Karen P. Thomas and the Emerald Ensemble's own Artistic Director, Gary D. Cannon.
Repertoire
- Karen P. Thomas (b.1957) – Deep river
- William Byrd (1543–1623) – Mass for five voices
- Gary D. Cannon (b.1975) – O Absalom (world premiere performances)
- Herbert Howells (1892–1983) – Requiem
